What is Local Lineups all about
The aim of the Local Lineups website is to build a comprehensive UK wide collection of photographs that show people coming together to represent their local Town, Village or even County. Topics can cover School, Work, Sport, Music, Interest groups, Fellowships or any other Organisation that represents a particular location. The one exception to the ‘People’ theme is another play on the word ‘Local’. If asked ‘what is your local’, a number of people would understand this to be their Local Pub/Inn. This is exactly what it is; so Local Lineups is also looking for pictures of Public Houses – Past and Present – and groups of their ‘local’ patrons.
How do I get started?
We would encourage visitors to register so that they can then make submissions to the site, respond to anything of interest and have full access to all areas. You only have to register ONCE. All you need is a valid email address, an User Name and a Password that you use for Local-Lineups
Why is my favourite place not listed?
All UK postal towns should have a presence, so that if your favourite place is not specifically listed, it will be recognised as part of its postal town’s page. If you feel that your small town/village warrants its own page, then let us know and we will create one. The portfolio of towns and villages is increasing all the time.
How do I navigate around the site?
Navigation is simple. Find the place that you wish to visit via the search facility and this produces a dropdown menu of all places that match your entry. Click on the place that you require and all that town related content is accessible. If you would like to be kept aware of future postings relating to this town, simply enable the ‘Following’ button and then all future posts to this location can be accessed via your ‘Town Feed’ button. The central frame shows the latest posts and these can be scrolled through to show all. However, if you are interested in a particular time period then you can filter the posts by clicking on the ‘Decade’ button . This will show a dropdown menu from which you can select a specific decade.
How do I post a message?
To post an image or to respond to existing content, you need to be logged in and of course this means that you should have registered at some time. We recommend that if your initial view of the site is positive, then register at the outset. This only needs to be done once but it allows you to interact and be fully involved with the site at any time in the future. When logged in, on each town page, there is a box (UPLOAD IMAGES) for submitting posts which is visible at the top of the central frame (it is not visible if you haven’t logged in). You then click on the box +ADD IMAGES and this will then give you access to your files. Select one or multiple images by holding down your Shift Button. The images that you have selected will appear as thumbnails in the submission box. You then Post a Caption and description of the image(s). The first few words should encapsulate what the image is all about and after that you can post as much text as you wish. Try to include a year that the image relates to. You then Start typing the Town. Predictive text will display a dropdown list of relevant locations and if yours is there you select. If your particular location is not listed, the local Post Town that covers it, should be. You then select a Decade from the drop down list. You can now click UPLOAD and this will post your message to the Town page. Note your image will not appear on the Home Page until you have ‘Refreshed’ that page. Click on button
or press F5. If you are not happy with your post, you have the option to DELETE from your Town Feed area
On the submission form, you will also notice a ‘Before and After’ option. This allows you to submit two images from different eras and then by checking the box, these images will appear on a split screen and Before and After views can be seen by moving a slider.
What information about me is held.
You will note that the registration details only require a valid email address and an User Name and Password. The User Name can be your own name (best if you would like to contact old friends) or a pseudonym. Your password is what you choose and is not seen by any other site user. We do not collect any personal information about site users, so you do not get asked for personal details such as age, gender, address, interests etc.
